Number plate light

Hi all, apologies if this question has already been asked !

Have just had my 2013 serviced at main dealer today and had asked them to replace one non working number plate light. Was told that the whole loop had to be replaced as they could not just replace the non working light, cost would be over £200 !!

Is this correct information ?

I can save you £180. I posted (inc link and pictures of how to replace it) a while back about a £20 eBay led light unit that avoids replacing any more than is necessary. See if you can find that. If not give a shout and I’ll see if I can. Keith

Thanks to this thread and can confirm part number for the light unit is T2R38453G, ordered from britparts for £23+vat
Much cheaper than the £171+Vat my local indie wanted to charge for supply and fit for the whole unit.
