HERE updates big mess : DO NOT UPDATE !!!

I wanted to update my maps - anouncement in the car : new maps available -. So I started like always. Get an empty USB-stick and go to the maps site to download a new map. I bought the car in 2018 : they give two valid subscriptions for updates ' Europe and Russia 1 year' and 'Europe and Russia 3 years' . So which do I choose.. Started with '3 years' .. First problem : cache memory too small. This never happened before and I use the C: drive only for programs. But the 19Gb remaining was not sufficient [ was before]. So I bought a new SSD and copied all programs.. .. finally with 160Gb free it started downloading.. ..for 8 hours !!!

Finally, I got into the car and progressed like always. Started almost at 51% and quit somewhere around 62%... Message : "Try again or contact dealer".. After 3 re-tries , putting the car to sleep and two more attempts, I had enough.

My son started checking the files and we discovered in a annex file it said " commercial name Europe and Russia " , but in the file header it said
"North America" ...

I think that somehow the satvav checks the location of the car and since its not in North America, it stops..

I guess the first thing is to try downloading it again... however painful that may be...!

Hopefully I've still got the Stick I did the last update with, so can check the files. Do you know what the filename with that header in was?

@Philsklill__ We are downloading it again. If you open the folder on the USB stick, scroll down to the very last file, it is a textfile.
Open the file and read what it says ' Central and North America' of 'Europe and Russia' , then you know.

Dan, when you go into the route planner site, click on "my account" then on the sidebar "downloads" and what map is it offering?

@PhilB__ At the moment it gives my 2 cars F-Type and F-Pace. But download in progress now.
Previous download was with previous SSD with program files and OS.

I replaced that 120Gb for a 480Gb to create space for the 'cache' function.

..at the moment its downloading..

Well only text file I can find on my old stick (and theres a chance its actually a Volvo update from here) does say Europe

Did you pick the '1yr' or '3yr' subscription : I could pick both. Same reference number, same cover it seems.
I still have 1:42h to go... ..glassfiber is in the softshoulder, for the moment still ADSL..

I went 3 yr, but think they both take you the same place anyway, where it shows you what you are entitled to. I'm at 20% now 1h55m left...!
