It might be good if the cat flap raised with sustained braking from 70 down to 45mph.

Ah you mean raised more, to the vertical.
That's where the coupe would win out in braking assistance!
You should find what you need here Mick...

Haha! Tried that Idea when we were kids, going downhill on a bicycle. Even with a small crappy homemade chute, when deployed the bike came to a dead stop.....ouch..... handlebars.

I remember showing the deployable spoiler to someone for the first time, couldn't understand why it wouldn't go back down, till I realised you had to hold it whereas I had previously just pressed it when moving, but I bet the reason you have to hold the button when stationery, is to shift the blame to you if you trap someone's fingers and ignore the screaming!
As for the speed of deployment, this will be determined by the down force requirement for stability, the ragtop will need it at lower speeds. The retraction speed will just give some hysteresis to make sure it's well below the deployment speed and safe before removing, and stop it going up and down and up and...

I've always thought that the spoiler on a coupe can quite easily say "hi, I'm speeding"
convertible is up at 64mph I think, down once you go below 40mph - quite like the look of it up on a convertible as its the full width of the car
seem to remember a few Audi's use to have deployable spoiler at 75 - 80mph...

My coupe automatic operation never goes up at speedo 70 but at speedo 74 which dashcam speed shows as 70. I find the manual operation very erratic and have never quite worked it out but certainly when the car is staionary I have to hold it in to make it deploy all the way.
