Can you say what his simple fix is? Or give a link?
Thanks

This is what I've done on my car.

Easy to do and it's effective.

At a recent service when the s/plugs were renewed, I was warned there was mild corrosion around the plugs and injectors. They recommended fitting different bonnet vents that would direct the water away, but was told they cost £500+ for the pair.
I thought it worth trying some gorilla tape first. Just back for a 1,000+ mile car tour, with lots of rain. Tape seems fine and doing it’s job, 👍 but I’ll still check it from time to time.

@BobHarrington: I've also thought about fitting the ‘shrouded’ bonnet vents but they too allow water into the engine bay as you can see from the first post in this topic.

When I’ve been out for a decent drive, after returning home I can still feel the heat coming from the ‘open mesh’ bonnet vents an hour or so after engine shutdown. This is why I’ve kept them on the car as they are serving their purpose.

If you wanted the ‘shrouded’ gloss black bonnet vents, they can be purchased for less than the £500 you mention, by shopping around online.

Good to hear the Gorilla tape is fine and doing its job 👍 (I'm assuming you’ve applied this onto the left and right sides of the plastic engine cover). I also check mine now and again and still have the black duck tape on it that I applied almost a year ago. I’ll be removing it and putting a fresh layer on in the next few months. I haven’t replaced it with the black aluminium foil adhesive tape which isn’t as strong and tears more easily.

Good Afternoon All,

Is corrosion normal around the cylinder head. See photos.

Purchased from JLR Just hade 3 Fuel injectors replaced NOT under warranty. Water ingress. apparently with every bolt they touched they snapped.
I've owned the car for 6months and done 1200 miles.

Not impressed with the quality.

Without having any details of your car, I am presuming a 13-16 plate RWD model?

Seems a common theme with the location and type of vents on the RWD earlier models. I can see why your not happy!

My Concern is how long will it last. It Is what it is.
Just another nail in. I am truly shocked at the build quality.

Surely you should be more shocked at how previous owners let it get in that state. The best build quality in the world is no match for neglect.
