Hi all,
I have just purchased a used f-type. Opening the boot, next to the battery pack, I found this black object labelled saftval.com that appears to be a gps tracker.
I thought of removing it but I found out it is more tricky than expected. The tracker has 4 wires connected to it. A red one connected to battery positive I could easily disconnect. Two black connected to the negative I could easily disconnect. One black going into a corrugated plastic tube then into the car body and I have no idea where it ends.. I would need to cut this one.
Anyone has a similar tracker installed? Is it safe to cut the wire or anyone has suggestion on its removal?
Thanks!

Most likely its an antenna. But without power, the thing is dead.
Contact the company, give the serial number of the device, ask them if you can cut the wire and tape it or not.
Likely they give you a dealer to pass by. Let them keep the device, if they don't charge you...

If feasible and the tracker is any good, it could be worth keeping as it's an additional security feature on the vehicle?
Perhaps you could contact the person/dealership you recently bought the car from and/or the tracker manufacturer to find out whether or not you could continue using the device securely which may require a monthly/annual subscription?

Thanks for the feedback.
Unfortunately I can't find many info on this item online. Even the manufacturer website appears down.
I'll start with disconnecting the power to avoid anyone tracking me, and then ask for advice to a local dealer before cutting any wire.

i would say thats probably a black box for insurance purposes, it wont be a tracker for security as that would be well hidden.
