I think you are missing the shroud that covers the diff and where the 2 fixings should be.

From your picture Alasdair63 it looks like the OP’s plastic cover has been cut and that the bolt holes are oversized, as well as the missing shroud to bolt it to. I would be taking it straight back to the dealer to fit both.
Either that or your car is missing 4 cable ties?
You can already see the witness marks on the metal plate edge that will be cutting through those cable ties!
Imagine how much wind force is getting behind that panel at speed... flapping it around rubbing those cable ties on that sharp edge!
That's if the undertray holes don't wear through first!
Damn good job you had a look!

I’ve been in contact with the dealer again today, it’s been on their ramps but been passed as ok! ??
It was a JLR managers car so someone must know.
The dealer is looking into it and says they will work with me.
Here’s another couple of photos.

Is that a big scuff mark on the black metal cross member?
The plastic part where it is cable tied is broken as well.
Could of been grounded out or parked half on half off a kerb and maybe it broken the plastic part hence it is shorter and cable tied back on. Bodge job anyway.

Looking closely at your picture you have actually 4 bolts missing, I removed all mine when I was investigating a small oil leak I had on my diff
Sensor and I do remember it was a bit oh faff putting in all back. I wouldn’t accept cable ties if they snap the panel could drop down and fold
back on itself.

The scuff marks are in fact the remains of the part sticker so no worries there, the main concern is the lack of mechanical fixings which are replaced by cable ties and the missing part or parts that it is supposed to bolt to.
As said the panel could drop, catch the road and cause more damage further back.
