The alarm keeps going off on my 2015 V6s

When I look at the last alarm in the menu it reports Panic Button.

Also, I’ve been getting a double beep when unlocking the car. This has been happening for a few months now with no apparent issues.

However, the key is in the faraday bag in the house!

Anyone got a clue where to start. The alarm sounder is very inaccessible under the right hand bonnet airbag tower. I don’t really want to touch that, but I reckon it needs to come out to get to the sounder.

My only thought is water ingress somewhere. The rain was very heavy the other day when it started. Can’t see any puddles anywhere though.

Not all Faraday bags are equal.

Key fob Panic button may be stuck in the down/Panic position.

Pull that apart first, it's relatively simple. If you can verify the switch is good, then it's time to look at the car.

You shouldn't be getting any beeps when unlocking.

The manual offers little help:
"If the security systems detect a fault with one of the security sensors, an error tone will sound from the alarm after the vehicle is unlocked and disarmed. If this condition occurs, seek assistance from a Retailer/Authorised Repairer for rectification.
"

Rule the keys out one at a time to start with anyway.

Ok it’s not the keys. Both in good order. I Think I have solved this. Well not solved it but found the cause. There is an awful lot of detritus from an overhead tree sitting underneath the airbag under the bonnet.

I have tried clearing it out as best I can. I managed to get an awful lot of old leaves and twigs out.It seems that water has been pooling in this area for quite some time.

It’s really quite difficult to access the area underneath the airbag. The only method I can suggest is using a long extension on a hoover and suck out the rubbish.

So it looks like the alarm sounder has been sitting in a pool of water for quite some time and he’s probably knackered.

It looks like the turret is held in with four bolts. Has anyone got access to the safety procedures for disconnecting the airbag before I pull these four bolts out? Of course I will disconnect the battery first but is there any grounding procedure to to dissipate any residual current.?

I remember reading somewhere that after disconnecting the battery, wait 30minutes (I think) before working on any airbags. However, don't take my word for it. I wouldn't want to be working on anything airbag related without being sure!

I think the bonnet is on pyrotechnics like the seat belt pre-tensioners and not air bags - although the same caution needs to be applied to working on them.

So today it went into a local independent Jaguar Land Rover specialist.

After a brief diagnostic session, as I expected it was found the battery backed up sounder (bbus) was faulty.

The part is on back order until June 22, so it’s going back in then.

I didn’t fancy playing with pyro technical stuff, decided to leave it to the pros.

He did say that the pyro can also be affected by water ingress in this area, it’s a very poor design. He’s seen a few f types with blocked drains.

All done. Got it back yesterday. Credit to Elite Jaguar specialists in Stockport. Excellent communication and kept the bill below £290.

If the ‘battery back-up security sounder’ on your car ever becomes faulty again (hopefully not) and it’s out of any warranty period, you could have a go at replacing it yourself (if you fancied it).

I paid £124 for the sounder from my Jaguar main dealer (part number C2D47174) which comes with the 2 year warranty.

This shows how I removed and replaced it on my V6 S..... viewtopic.php?f=21&t=6114
