Re Jaguar 2014 F type S 3 litre, convertible,
Irritating whining sound evident as i drive along, worst when I cruise around 1800 to 2000 revs or during hard acceleration,
Below 1500 hardly noticeable, appears to be coming from underneath behind driver seat,
Fantastic performance and condition although 99,000 miles clocked, Regularly serviced by Jaguar,
Recent MOT with major service, Garage did not show any concern,
More I listen, louder the whine, Opinions would be appreciated, Thank you in advance,
John
F Type S, Unusual whining sound from exhaust
Have you had the rear diff checked - some on here have had issues in that area? Or maybe an exhaust valve (assuming you have them) is partially stuck and acting a bit like a whistle?
And welcome to the forum, sorry it had to be under such circumstances.

Thank you for the replies,
Exhaust has two valves, {two yogurt tub s in size}
can I spray release agent on to the valves,
I am not mechanically minded, A proud owner of Jaguar sports cars since 1979, E-type Series 1 and 3, Xjs, XK and presently the F type for the past 6 years,,
The rear diff was checked during last service, Slight oil weep, otherwise OK,

Hi John,
You can try spraying some copper grease down the spindle that comes out of the small yoghurt pot.
You should be able to gently push this rod mechanism in. If so, spend some time working the mechanism, and fingers crossed that’s the issue and an easy fix.
Best to use the loud switch each time you drive - why wouldn’t you - and keep the mechanisms free moving.
