First check your ba\tery is fully charged and in good condition. Then start diagnosing from there.

I checked the battery and everything seems ok...i have a constant voltage of 12.3V and when i start the car it goes down to 10.9V and goes up to 14.1V with the alternator ????
12.3V seems a bit low, a good battery should be around 12.5V. And mine goes up to 14.7V when the alternator's running. If you have a charger, give it an overnight charge and see if that makes any difference. That'll at least eliminate one potential cause. If you're on the original battery, 7 years is pretty good going for life.

As above 12.3v is low. It represents a charge of only 70%. Before starting you should have 12.7v
I suggest a good overnight charge and it it doesn't retain 12.7v, then consider a new battery

I'm having the exact same problems but have had problems with earth strap before so i'm thinking of changing the earth strap to an insulated one if i can get to the old 1. has anybody changed this in the past or is there another way of earthing the body to the engine. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
