Sorry to hear this tale of woe.

Water ingress through the vents may cause the plugs and injectors to seize in place, but there's no way that water would find its way inside the engine. The report notes the wrong grade of oli was used, which indicates that the maintenance of this vehicle wasn't done properly. 3 years of missing service records seems to confirm this conclusion. Any engine thus abused is likely to fail, without the fault being laid at the manufacturer's door.

Hope you can get this resolved to your satisfaction.

The plastic coolant pipes (particularly the one under the supercharger) were a weak point on early models, where they have been known to crack along the seam. The main culprit (y pipe) was an updated part for later cars.

It could be that a coolant pipe leak wasn't dealt with and a catastrophic failure then dumped a ton of water onto the engine. Posts are seen for the Y pipe leaking, but major failures seem rare.

Seized and corroded injectors crop up quite a bit, but don't usually end up with a trashed engine. There's a couple of specialist companies I've seen mentioned, that get called on, who are expert at getting them out.

Contact Jaguar customer services. They might say they can't help, but there's no harm in asking.

That was my thoughts too. The absence of servicing could have caused it, however the missing service history is from 2017-2020 with a service completed in November 2020 and the problem became most audible in Jan/Feb 2022. The independent inspection guy said he does not think the absence of servicing has caused it.

Bear in mind i was sold the car as having a full service history, which i did not thoroughly check(Fault on my part for not checking but we were in covid so it was an in and out collection)

This is another thing i suspected, I have seen another coolant pipe change where the same corrosion has occurred as seen on this video from a guy having the coolant pipe change , but i cannot see how the coolant has contaminated the oil if its so closed off

My car is a 2014 R with 22,000 on the clock and this kind of story makes me think that it might be prudent to change the coolant Y pipe as a matter of precaution.
Is there anything else that should be changed while it’s apart ?
Hopefully a good independent could take it on.
Has anyone else taken the precautionary route?

From what I've read, the supercharger coupler might be a consideration as it's got to come out anyway to get to the y pipe.

Based off of numerous comments on this Forum, you might want to see if the injectors (and/or plugs) are frozen and consider replacement.

i can't understand how the diagnosis of cam can be done without taking them out and measuring the lift on them?, have you a price to rebuild?

They have removed them, but they found the wear on the ends of the camshafts and buckets. The car has been stripped further from some of the photos taken

Rebuild cost is 19-20k with a Jaguar remanufactured engine including labour already incured to diagnose the fault. It's cheaper with a used engine (about 15k) or 12k for a remanufactured engine from nws motors

But I would want a jagaur remanufactured one
