Engine coolant issues

How often do you drive it? It might be worth getting a battery maintainer to keep on the car during "down time". Was the new battery fully charged before it was fitted (they often aren't off the shelf).

Well, after getting the sheared bolt fix a few weeks ago, they mentioned there was a small coolant leak .

Today the low coolant light came on,filled it up and after warming the car up, same thing again. Only really happens when the car had warmed up.

By checking straight after driving, seems to be either water pump or Y coolant pipe (we think that). Car is 7 years old, which seems to be the pipe lifetime.

So more expense, although at least not main dealer expense I hope. Getting an intermittent SOS signal warning as well.

On a positive note, did get 45mpg out of it on the way home.

James Rawlinson found the problem, leaks from the thermostat housing and a couple of the attached hoses. Big bill, mostly labour.

Fingers crossed that all's now ok.
