Hi, I have a 2017 car with 8” screen and would like to upgrade to a 10.2” one. The difficulty I have is in identifying which system it is.

Interesting little project…LR Retrofits list the upgrade for MY18 on with JCK in the VIN. Where are you getting all the kit from?

I haven’t actually ordered anything yet, needed to find out what the installation is, have now discovered from another Jaguar forum that it is an IMC In Control Touch Pro. This is apparently easy to upgrade, you buy a used Front 10” display 10 SV, serial number GX63-19C 299 AC from ebay, change the screen and get it coded.

I’ll let you know how I get on once I have completed the exercise.

How will you get it coded? Do you have an indy that can do it for you or do you have the coding kit yourself?

Hi,

I use a very good Indy in Nottingham all ex Jaguar main dealer. I find that they are much more dedicated than the dealer as it is the source of their income, rather than the employee of a dealer who is just looking forward to his pay check at the end of the month.

10.2” screen on its way, purchased from breakers who have it checked by specialists to ensure that it is working correctly, and guarantee it. If it works okay I will have to source a surround as it is from a written off F Pace.

An update on this project.

The system from Icebox Auto was incompatible with the system in my car. I obtained a screen from eBay and the independent Jaguar garage, in whom I repose the utmost confidence, tried to upgrade the audio system to accept the 10.2” screen utilising the Jaguar equipment. Ultimately this was not possible as the 2018 models are controlled by a system called Pathfinder which did not allow it. They could have done it ‘illegally’ but their reputation is excellent and they would not do such a thing, which I accept.

Well I have finally bitten the bullet and am arranging for L R Retrofits to carry out the upgrade. I’ll post the results once the work has been done.

Hi Major Tom and Lunar.

Mo is coming to my area (Nottinghamshire) within the next 2 weeks and I will keep you posted about the procedure. The cost is £800. He has been specific about the fact that it will not be possible to operate the air con from the new screen but of course operation by the manual knobs remains. Coincidentally, the existing screen cracked today so would need to be replaced anyway, heaven knows what the dealership would charge to replace it.
