Something loose in steering column area

Hi all,

Got a slight issue that’s starting to drive me mad!

I’m getting a weird noise coming from the steering column area.
Sounds like there’s something loose and like a dull rattle, but doesn’t sound metallic.

I can hear it constantly.
It’s not loud but can clearly hear it all the time, unless the road is perfectly smooth.

I’ve tried adjusting the steering wheel to check if that makes a difference and it doesn’t.

Not sure what it could be.
Hoping someone may have experienced a similar noise in the same area and was able to resolve?

Sorry, I know these sort of posts can be a bit annoying and vague.

Has anyone else experienced a similar sound before?

May just take it to a garage to take a look but always a bit hesitant with that.
Don't want it coming back worse than it first was.
