Well multi story seemed to do the trick!

Exactly 10 mins after stopping average level showed as below and live level matched.

Thanks again all

After refilling the oil .....
− Wait 5 min
− Start the engine and allow to run for 10 min
− Stop the engine
− Ensure on flat ground with bonnet open
− Allow 10 minutes from the engine switch off for the engine oil level to stabilise
− Turn ignition on
− Access the engine oil level display
− Press the cruise control cancel button twice within 2 seconds
This display is now the LIVE reading of the engine oil level.
− If oil level is correct
− Turn the ignition off
− Turn the ignition on
− Press and hold the cruise control cancel button for more than 5 seconds
− Turn the ignition off
− Turn the ignition on
− Scroll through the trip menu to access the engine oil level display
− Make sure that the average oil level value has now been updated
This display is now the AVERAGE reading of the engine oil level.
I’ll save that.
But, what is the measurement averaging? To be of any useful value?
The question isn’t as daft as it sounds…..

Newbie question(s) but where should the oil level read exactly? At half point like it's recommended on cars with a dipstick or maximum? I read a comment about the oil level easily tipping over into overfilled and that got me wondering.

I second the question above, what's that average reading about? I didn't see it in the manual and find it odd that it's even a thing.

I did get an overfilled too when I first got to that display on a slope but when car is cold and flat it reads OK between half point and max so I guess I'm good.

Finally, I had no printed manual or records with the car and the dealer said "it's all online now". They printed out the service record but this is the first car I bought that didn't have a nice leather pouch with all the manuals, etc. I know Jaguar sells them online as "replacement" so was I misled by the dealer?

Sorry for going off topic a bit, OP!

I got a handbook with my MY18 but iot was an early one (built April 2017) so maybe they stopped providing ir later in the run. You can access the online manual through the Remote app: More -> Jaguar Digital Handbook, then either enter your VIN or select the vehicle type and follow the prompts.
