I have some sympathy MM,

I picked my car up 2 weeks ago to find it had a fault - the passenger window wouldn't drop when opening the door. Should have been picked up under 'Window Operation' under the 165 point check; which I was fairly sure they'd done, because they'd put the car on the ramp to take pictures of the diff as requested.
A round trip of 3 hours to drop off, and another this week to pick up is annoying to say the least - I hope they stick some petrol in it for me.

As for the tyres - do you really want a free Pirelli, which everyone slates as being rubbish, or some decent Michelins?

Jon.

I know it’s not very helpful but the legal minimum is 1.6mm, the 3mm minimum is part of the Jaguar approved scheme.

As others have said I would just get Michelin’s fitted to both wheels on the axle and then invoice them for 50% of the cost due to one of them being below ‘their’ limit.

Good luck and I hope you get to relax and enjoy the car. A bit bizarre how jaguar customer relations post on here that they will help you out and then seem to ignore you though.

Hi to the two posts above...
I Think (Don't quote me yet) it agreed to 1 X Michelin..Hence the quote ''I can have another one at a discounted price'' Which is actually £100/$140 more than I can buy it at Costco or from BlackCircles online..Geewhiz Sir What a Deal!!

As I've only had The Beast for two weeks and worn out Pirelli Tyres on it.
I was, after reading nothing but glowing reports about the Mich's, going to have a set next.

Finally heard back from pete@jag. I shall sit down later and pen a letter back.

Just taken my car in for some warranty work that was not picked up on the so called 165 point inspection. The vehicle has been in my ownership for less than a month and today the technician has found that the exhaust valve is seized.
Combine this with the passenger seat bolster damage and rear bumper defuser miss aligned, I am beginning to think the inspection was not done. When I picked the car up the owners manual was missing, this is one of the first things they check on the list.
Jaguar make a big thing about this comprehensive 165 point check so that us, the customer have confidence we are buying a well maintained and fit for purpose vehicle. So if you read this Jaguar, you need to make sure your dealers are actually doing what they say they are as this has slightly tainted my purchase and made me think have I done the right thing by moving away from German cars.

Hello again everyone.
Okay so we are nearly there, not quite, but close..

One thing I must bring up, when my car went into Beadles at Sidcup and they carried out the service and 165 check, one of my R-Dynamic badges had come off, literary hanging off as the glue had deteriorated.

So I bought a new one and asked if they'd stick it on for me......Receipt for service etc including labour for installing the badge onto the grille (pressing either end of the badge onto the area made for it) £80!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 1/2 hour labour £80 I'll say it again..I'm still trying to get that money back as seriously, that is extracting the urine.

Also had a conversation with Jaguar who informed me they are totally impartial, yet when I complained that 165 check in my opinion had not been done by Marshall at Oxford (Didcot) with regards to tyre pressures, missing bits, no washer fluid blah blah blah, his reply was, the multi point check is for major parts, to make sure nothing mechanical is faulty.....also after several times of telling him my side of the story, he would use the text book dismissive reply, 'well I'm sorry you feel that way' and immediately moved onto what he wanted to say. Impartial my posterior.

So folks the story so far isn't completely rosy, and to be honest I thought the impartial Jaguar rep was everything but. I guess if they admitted to their system is totally useless with regards to franchised dealers, that would open the flood gates. So as it stands so far, I've taken it to the next level and getting the franchise owner involved, lets see where that gets me..
lastly, I have a tainted love for my car, but still an absolute hatred for dealers and sit on the fence corporate flunkies.

Another thing that was said to me by the IMPARTIAL Jaguar guy Simon..When I mentioned the about the tyres, one being under 3mm (2.7mm) and the other 3.2mm and that is below Jaguars recommended limit, he replied in IMPARTIAL speak, it's only a guide line that we ask dealers to stick to, and you have got three good tyres...... :ugeek:
So good luck people..
