I have the standard alloy propeller wheels in silver, and I’m thinking of having them powder coated in gloss black, but I’ve been advised not to, as powder coating is brittle and flakes off. Anyone got any experience of this?

Yes. I have.

It doesn't. Who told you that?

As an ex tvr owner I have experience of powder coating flaking off. I'd say it was down to poor prep and application though. Like most things if it's been done properly it should be fine.

I would imagine that the original silver alloys are powder coated, but don’t worry the powder coat won’t flake off if done by a specialist.

Powder coating is by far the most long lasting coating. If you kerb the wheel anything will flake off

Personal choice but think about gloss black. It's very Corsa and done to death,. There and there are so many subtle colour and finish options available

Talk to these guys. They always do a good job for me.

I've had engine casings powder coated, springs, aluminium castings, forgings, stainless steel tubing, not to mention the wheels on my F-Type.

No problems on anything so far......Started using them in 2013.

I use a company here in Notts called The Wheel Specialist. They are a franchise and have dealerships in Hampshire and throughout the UK. In my extensive experience with them with a variety of cars they have been superb but it may depend on the branch. I’m sure you can Google for recommendations.

Ive been using Lepsons for years, based in Gillingha but offer collection / delivery service

As above, no issues with powder coating, plus it very resilient to stone chips\

Definately give thought to other colour options over gloss black such as shadow chrome, gunmetal, or any variety of high gloss metallic greys ... what colour if your F-type?
Storm Grey V6 coupe, fun, fast, popping and crackling with smiles all the way ... missed more than I expected!

C43 AMG estate, lots of toys, like the F-Type but with 4 seats and far more stealthy but still with pops and crackles!
