Is it just a a matter of preference , drive-ability or something else?

RWD or AWD? That is the Question
My old V6S used to spin the wheels and kick out the rear which was fun if you wanted it to - but disturbing if you weren't expecting it. A V8 RWD would have been worse.
SVR AWD just digs in and takes off and is pretty hard to oversteer.
So if you want to go everywhere sideways: RWD.
If you want to go everywhere twice as fast (and in any weather) AWD.

If you plan to drive the F-type in real winter conditions, the awd is the best choice.
If not, I would say the rwd R (including the V8), is an easy car to drive fast. You just need to learn how to modulate the throttle - like you have to do on a sportbike.

the v8 awd is pretty easy to get sideways in anything less that perfect warm dry conditions...
I would say if you are only driving 6 months a year then go RWD
If, like me, you want to use 24x7x365 then I chose AWD. It is still rear biased and will step out of line if poked but provides grip when you need it.
A biased opinion as my last car was AWD, and I said I would never go back to RWD/FWD again.

I have had the AWD V8 now for 2years. For me AWD is the way to go for that BHP... tons of grip and catapults you forward without total fear of ending up in a hedgerow if you over cook it... or losing the grip at the back....
Maybe i do not have the handling skills for RWD .. but from a practical perspective .. AWD has been great.
Mind you .. still had the odd tail waggle with an over enthusiastic exit from a roundabout in dynamic mode...
Can confirm the electronic wizardry kicked in and straighten it out ... Think the Audi Estate driver behind me was more ruffled...
