Trickle charger Question

This is the charger I bought.
Any comments - anybody using something similar in the UK ? This obviously is local to South Africa.

I have a CTEK, but also have one that looks very similar to your 4A charger. It's called an Ultimate Speed 3.8 ULGD A1. Both work very well.

Hello this is my set up ... I added the ammeter so I can see how much current is being drawn, then I made my own charger leads with heavy duty battery clips, works well for me .

The charger I have always used was the Optimate. Had on a Skyline that I hardly used for 5 years ,same battery & on my 911 5years ,same hardly used & even though they are for a motorcycle have worked flawlessly. I believe they only charge in milliamps. Will be fitting it to jag soon.

Just on this, so far, I havn't used the charger. Use the FT once/week e.g. Sat and thus far the starting is fine. At what point should I put the trickle charger on ?

Your charger looks similar to ctek as the box says 4 charging stages. If so you can leave it on whenever you are not using the car. My car is very rarely used & the ctek is on all the time. Its been on since November.

I see you are in South Africa. Here in the uk during the winter cars that do not get used much end up with the battery suffering as the lead acid style car batteries drop in voltage due to low temperature. Hence here in the uk my Son in law does a thriving busness during the winter with his recovery company all because car batteries that are past there sell by date fail in winter. A problem you will not have. You should be good for many years with yours.
