Hello All,

I’m planning a bit of a F-Type Euro-Drive for next year & want to visit the following places...

1. Steenbergen, Holland (Guy Gibson was killed/buried here)
2. Reichswald Forest War Cemetery (Some of the Dambusters crew buried here)
3. Mohne Dam
4. Hannover/Celle (British Military Hospital where I was born)
5. Belson/Bergen Memorial
6. Home

Hoping to do it over three days, might be a tad over-optimistic?

Would appreciate any advice on best/safest way to get car over the channel? Possible routes &/or places to stop.

Have done a bit of research hoping some of the more knowledgable folk on here can give me there first hand experience.

TIA

Darren

If you go on the Channel Tunnel train then book as a high vehicle. (Tick box when you book).
It costs no more but means you go on the wide and lower deck with buses/trucks/trailers etc. I wouldn't dare take my F on the upper car deck - kerbed wheels everytime!

@simpleR Brilliant tip, I wondered about that the other day. I ended up, when I took my XF to France, driving on the walk way then bumped down..it was seriously close in that.

For a more relaxed start, perhaps consider the overnight Hull-Zebrugge ferry? It’s a pleasant trip and there is good food and cabins. Gets you onto the Dutch motorway all refreshed and ready to go at 0800. 👍

I brought my F-type over on the Hull -Rotterdam ferry. I'd recommend the extra £12 each way for priority boarding as cars have a little more space (especially weekends in summer when the ferry is packed. It leaves a bit later than the Zeebrugge ferry (and a bit newer ship).

Harwich-hook of Holland (Stena line) is also a nice crossing.

Both ferries land less than an hour from Steenbergen.

Yep, it's fun being the lowest high vehicle in the queue - we boarded topless just to accentuate things!

...and you usually board and exit first too.

We got smiles and knowing looks from other drivers and loading crew :)
