I tried it 2x times. Car stationary, engine running auto stop/start off..

First attempt : aborted at 61% after approxemately 25 mins. Second attempt : around 40%..

Hopeless firmware...

I copied all files to my SSD. Tomorrow I'll put it on an other USB-stick and try again..

If a new usb doesn't work you could try low level formatting the usb to remove any dead sectors, I used a samsung 64gb micro sd, in a usb holster. Not installed it yet but with PDE managing a successful install, I hope it will be fine.

I have the ‘InControl Touch’ system in my car and I have yet to update the map.

On the InControl Touch Official Navigation Map Update Website it says......

Just follow these 4 easy steps:

1. Eject the SD card from the navigation system and insert it into the SD slot of your computer.
2. Download the InControl Touch Map Updater and start it.
3. Follow the instructions on the screen to update your map.
4. Re-insert the SD card into your Navigation System to upload the map update.

I can see that some of you use a USB stick for the map updates so what is the best way for me to do this.......SD card (as per Jaguar's instructions) or USB stick?

I’ve attached an illustration of the Navigation SD card reader and USB connection which are both located in the front centre cubby box of my car.

Thanks

In your case as you have the standard Incontrol Touch you should use the SD card as per Jaguar's instructions.
With that system though if it finds a new map for your system it will sting you around £90 for the privilege.
The USB method is for the incontrol Pro system on later cars.

There are several issues that seem to be coming up with updating maps on the Pro system using the USB method.
On other forums there are similar things that pop up from time to time as well.

Just some thoughts from me about this as there are some basic things that might help things along.
The maps on the "Here" site for the Pro have got bigger over time.
They will no longer fit on the 32GB stick that was recommended.
Use a 64GB USB 3 that has been formatted to "FAT 32".
Some new sticks come pre-formatted to FAT 32 but a lot are "Ex-FAT" and will need to be changed.
I hear that on a MAC this can be done on the device.
On Windows you will need 3rd Party software to re-format the stick to FAT 32, an online search will find several.
Use your dedicated 64GB stick for maps and maps ONLY.
Many problems with people using other USB's with other stuff loaded on them.
This can confuse the car leading to failures.
So have your dedicated stick and delete all data from it each time prior to a new upload.
(might be best to have a backup with your current map on it in case of issues bearing in mind Sod's Law and all that)

After logging into the "Here" site don't bother going to "Maps and Services" and wading through the various maps available and how many years etc.
Go to "My account" and you will see a set of Tabs on the left.
Click on "Downloads" and it will show the next map available specifically for your vehicle (it's dedicated and includes your VIN).
If you have more than one vehicle on there check it's for the vehicle you want to update.
Pop your empty 64GB USB in the device and do the download.
(Yes you can use a bigger storage device provided it's empty and formatted to FAT 32)

Because it's the whole of Europe plus Russia and many other obscure places it can take several hours depending on your download speed.
(Yes I know it's totally bloody daft and there should be an option for owners to pick which maps they need)

If you ever finally get the thing uploaded a couple of things with the car.
It normally takes about 15-20 minutes to upload and you need the engine running all the time so the car doesn't shutdown half way through.
Sit in the car and look bored or go for a drive, obviously Nav won't be available whilst it's uploading.
Don't put the USB in the slot straight after starting up.
As you know the cars can take a minute or two to be fully "awake".
Wait until it's ready then put the USB in the slot and on the nav screen you should get the option to upload.

I'm sure people will have other ideas and be far more technically savvy than me but this is what I have always done and it works.
