Not sure but could be related to a problem we are having with CarPlay caused by a JLR automatic update a couple of months ago.
Hopefully they will update and fix the software problem in August.

Voice control only works if you have your phone physically connected by a USB cable and launch CarPlay (Apple) or Android Auto (Android). Sadly, it does not work by itself.

EDIT: I'm not happy that this is the only way to do it, especially given that my old basic Mazda 3 had voice activation directly via Bluetooth, but not liking it isn't going to change the way Jaguar have implemented it. I had to read the online user guide to find why it wasn't working as I had expected it to.

Nothing to do with CarPlay and phone only over Bluetooth
Just trying to control nav and contact etc

According to the 2021 F-Type manual, voice control is only operative with Apple Car play or Android auto.
There's a good vid on you tube showing how it works with those media systems.

Haven’t tried CarPlay. Would if it was wireless.
Looks like others saying it’s just a mute button which is how it currently works.
Seems cheap by Jag. Had this on cars for years 🙄

Things are moving to have a lot of features on Carplay/Android auto like a lot of manufacturers.

I’ve had a few cars with voice control and they’ve all been fairly useless. Plugging my phone in to the Jag and using Siri has actually worked though. Having said that, I can’t remember the last time I used it and for short journeys I don’t plug my phone in. Having a mute button is more useful though for me.

I’ll try it.
Main use was to call contacts or basic nav. Assumed this was a standard feature on a 60k car 😡
Load of videos showing it working but apparently it’s an extra which I never saw in the configuration

It was a feature on older cars but with Android auto etc they are expecting everybody to use those features.
Can't see it being an option as the manual only mentions voice control for 2021 as per what I posted.
I suppose we have to move with the times.
;)
