You'd need a lot of good luck not to be stung with a hefty "diagnostic fee". A Jag independent might be more cooperative.
Quiet rattle / 'tinkling' noise and intermittent squeal
The symptoms you describe are very similar to a problem I had ! I left the car with the dealer for investigation and they found that the noise was originating from the accessory drive belt ! Belt and tensioner drive replaced ! No noise now

Thanks all for the thoughts!
I took it out for a decent drive yesterday (120 mile round trip) and it's still driving great (what a joy my car is!), and I barely heard the rattle beyond the first 10 mins - but what I did hear was my mystery squeal again. I've pinpointed this provisionally to making a noise only on acceleration and only when engine is totally cold (as in it does it 3 or 4 times on acceleration and that's it).
So if they're related, it's potentially a belt as the culprit. Will monitor over the next couple of weeks to get through the festive period then either give Toyota another call (belt squeal is very noisy and I wouldn't have bought the car if it had done it on my test drives!) or one of my local(ish...) Jaguar specialists a call.
My local dealer is Jaguar Carlisle and they seem to have mixed reviews on how expensive they are so I'm not too hopeful they'd do any diagnostics for free.

A belated update as I recently had the car looked at by Jaguar after the garage I bought it from took it in -
- They reported they sorted the rattle by fixing some panelling in the boot - but it is definitely still there and definitely still coming from the front of the car. It’s intermittent though so I suppose they may have started it up and it’s not made a noise so they’ve assumed fixed!
Anyway it’s no worse, I’m still sort of hoping whatever it is gets worse before my warranty is up so can get sorted rather than waiting until the end of the year. From reading other posts if it’s an issue with anything super charger related it might be an expensive fix!
- The squealing on acceleration is related to the traction control - an actuator apparently. Hence why it’s worse in the wet as traction control is working harder!!!
