Advice please

Shortly my F-Type 400 Sport Coupe will be garaged for 2 months. I have taken advice from this forum and purchased (and installed) a CTEK MXS 5.0 battery charger. Is there anything else I should consider doing?

There's a thread here about the potential issues with petrol going "stale":

I'm not sure if a two-month lay-up might cause flat-spotting on the tyres but I'm sure others who have
done it previously can advise on that.

Two months is nothing, in the grand scheme of things.....depending on where it is parked...and maybe the season.

If it's in a dry garage, I reckon just the Ctek set up in the correct manner is really all you need to do.

If you want to be OTT about small details then I suppose you can look at all sorts of 'stuff' like gadgets and ways to help stop flat spots on the tyres, additives that slow down fuel stagnation....getting the oil changed to reduce acidity etc....

But no need for just 2 months.

Relax.....Just don't forget to lock it on your way out ;)

I'd be tempted to run it for 10 min in the middle, maybe roll it forwards a little.

This is what I do on a very regular basis;

1. For two months I pump my tyres up to 50psi all round.
2. Ensure the Ctek is correctly setup.
3. Leave no more than quarter of a tank of juice in it.
4. Fully detailed inside and out, then covered with the Jaguar cover.
And that's in a dry, carpeted garage!

I'm ocd about looking after my toys, but all my vehicles are like the day they left the factory...or better!

When you next sell a car, let me know :)

Absolutely....park it away clean and dry with polished paintwork and a cover that won't hold moisture. That's only natural to do for your pride and joy, so kinda goes without saying. Good point mentioning it though. :)

I assume the reference to no more than 1/4 tank of fuel is so that should it go up in flames the accompanying explosion won't be so big.

If laying up for a properly long period the wisdom is to leave the tank full so there's no space for condensation, and less air may help slow the octane degradation.

Personally with modern paint I wouldn't even use a cover - just use a california duster before it's first wash.

As already said above, for 2 months just CTEK it and possibly a bit more air in the tyres - although on 30 profile stuff I doubt that would do much to help even.

But if you do that don't forget to let it out before seeing a nice sunny morning and going for an "acquaintance" blast again :)

Don't think that's a good idea. 10 minutes will get it warm and create moisture in the engine and exhaust system.

The cooling system water will come up to temp. but the oil won't.

I agree with Aitch. Resist temptation on that I reckon.
