Has to be the Gloss black grill for the front bumper (T2R3563) How do they justify £500 for the gloss black part versus £150 for the chrome part :( :(

It's the one change to the car I really want to make, but struggle to justify. Painting could just lead to an awful stone chipped look in a few years.

Not at all, actually quite easy.

-Cut an over sized piece;

Then heat is slightly and pull it tightly over the outside edge back.

A piece that size costs around € 20.

Better : any wrap outfit does it for you at € 20 labourcosts..

Hydro-dipping and good lacquer layers works well too and is almost as cheap as Wrapping. Particularly good for that Carbon Fibre look without the price tag.

It can give the the same look. I had lots of interior parts H2O-dipped. But I think it would be a mistake to do this with a grille.

Stones hit it easily and dipping is hard to touch up. I also assume with a single piece ( I normally had 5 -10 parts dipped at a go),

the price would touch € 50. And the wrapping you can remove if the result doesn't suit you. Dipping is non-reversible if you want

to do it properly : you need a base coat. :ugeek:

I left the pattern. Normally they smoothen it before painting en dipping. I wanted this "gun-handle" look !

So that's been dipped? You left the texture on? Looks good. I wouldn't have guessed at dipped.

Thanks ! Since JLR got so many comments about the lack of wood they put it back in the new F-Pace.

I think it will return someday in the F-type too.

Yes. The dealer removed the parts. I drove around without these two week waiting for the dipper.

Can I ask who you got to do it?

I have previously done parts like the scuff plate on the door as it becomes more worn from clumsy feet, get some extra hard lacquer layers on and then you can polish out if needed with a "magic sponge". Works too.
