Having been gifted the book for Xmas I’ll read and see if it is referenced
Personally I prefer colour coded sills :)

I've had the book for quite some time but can't say I saw anything about that in it.

Regarding the sill colour I'm a bit torn. I suppose we're talking about the optional ones that came with the other aero kit like the front splitter and nicer rear diffuser.

I think both alternatives look good although I guess black sills would look best on a car with the black pack. IIRC having those sills colour coded was an additional option. My car has all those boxes ticked and has all that aero kit colour coded. Being a fan of a clean homogenous look I think it's perfect but it wouldn't really have looked worse if my sills were black instead of BRG.

It was the First F-Type R he'd seen back in 2015 with Black sills. He'd wished that the design team had left them alone...I can only assume that his design originally called for black?

The V8S had black sills as standard, but remember that these on the Series I models are smaller and thinner than the former types.

As standard the sills are colour coded as are the 'winglets' front left, and right hand sides and rear diffuser. Straight away the car appeared too porky around the midriff.

Black wrap plus Xpel over the top tricked the eye perfectly.

Good point. It does indeed look a bit better with dark sills on cars with brighter colours.

Considering that the CX 16 had matte black lower sills I guess that was his initial design intention.

The sills would be a simple wrap to black. Mine are muddy colour these days.

The radical changes happened when Callum retired I think.
There's a very long lead time from design to production. Ian Callum didn't retire until mid 2019 and the last F type facelift was designed around the end of 2017.
