Hello
I’ve been guided by the jaguar f type owners Facebook group about a history check for a car.

Would really appreciate this if possible.

Registration is:
MD15 ZFZ

Any further information happy to provide.

Thanks a lot :)

Just download this app and see if for yourself

Nothing horrendous though.

Thank you for that.

Is there a specific check that is done via a member on the forums that checks for whether certain components such as; Supercharger belt/accessory belt etc have been changed or are outstanding?

Thanks

A couple of members can find out historical data on the cars, but the service information is available (in the UK for sure, possibly in other markets) by going to osh.jaguar.com and typing in the VIN. Whether that includes details of belt changes, etc depends on how completely the servicing dealer has completed the upload.

The online log is not error proof though. I bought the car under the knowledge that the car had had the 60 months service done but the spark plugs didn't appear on the serviced parts. I called the "specialist" quoting the job number and they revealed that they had only done an oil service as per the dealer's request. I asked if it was common practice to lie on the service records and they apologised and said the scheduled service was marked as done "by mistake". 🤡

Car 24959
Salsa Red V6 340.
Started life in Cheshire before moving onto Norwich, Derby and then Birmingham. Number of previous owners unknown but presume you would be the 5th.

Registered 1st July 2015, pretty much a full service history with last service a little late this month. Belts etc due on next service. MOT looks ok, with the smaller brakes on the 340 wearing at around 40k is normal.

With any used car always worth getting an independent check, such as Car Vertical who sponsor the forum.

Doesn’t sound like it was a Jaguar dealership request as they would have serviced in house surely?

Thank you for that. It doesn't include any history of belts in the write up on there so assumption is not unless receipts show this?

Thank you ALL for the further information, appreciate it.

Would anyone know of an indicative cost to replace the belts and such? I understand costs would vary garage to garage - just wanting to try and get ducks in a row!

Thanks

No, I bought it from a JLR independent dealer that had it serviced by a reputable Jaguar specialist. I'm working with the dealer to rectify this.

Jaguar cost price is £491.50 for both belts (supercharger and accessory belts) and an oil change on the car you are looking at (which is the next service). I repeat that is cost. Expect anything around £1k at a main dealer. Shop around and try Jaguar specialists and independents.
