No warning signs on instrument panel, coolant 1inch below MIN level but apparently just changed and engine needs primed before level topped up according to salesman......dealer not named, for now....

That pipe is usually covered by the engine cover isn't it?
Regardless of that, it doesn't look great.

It does appear to be a coolant leak even though the coolant pipe is the newer (modified) type. I don’t like the sound of the coolant level being one inch below the minimum.....the salesman could be trying to pull a fast one there? If you want the car (and they want the sale), to be on the safe side get them to adjust the purchase price accordingly in case the upper and lower coolant pipes need replacing if they fail outside of any dealer warranty period. If they don’t then you’re quids in!

In the meantime you could just top up the coolant and keep an eye on the level every now and again.

@simpleR The engine cover has probably been removed to see what lies beneath. Either that or someone hasn’t fitted it properly!

I removed engine cover and set aside to see what lies beneath so that's why it's lying to one side. I also noticed the foam behind the engine cover was soaking. Suppose condensation but car also store outside on carlot so water ingress possible. Engine bay obviously no steam cleaned by looks of how dirty it is! What would you look to knock off price to protect the downside of there being a leak? They are also pushing a 3yr warranty for £1k which is mechanical and electrical only, so suspect coolant leaks not covered......see supercharger and rust exclusions above....failed stick injectors prob another exclusion. Desperate to get into a FTYPE but perhaps not this one without further investigation

I thought so. The foam behind the engine cover shouldn’t be soaking! My car is also outside in the elements all year round and it isn’t like that.

£150 should cover the cost of parts (upper and lower coolant pipes etc). For labour charges you could contact a local independent garage to find out.

Yes, the Evans Halshaw warranty that you posted doesn’t cover those coolant pipes. The overall picture I’m getting of this car isn’t very good and as the saying goes....If in doubt s**t out!

Well done on spotting this and avoiding problems further down the line. You could ask the dealer to fund a Jaguar inspection c£300 I think, before completion of the sale. Doubtful they will do this, but….. If it did pass the inspection then you would be able to purchase a Jag used warranty for full peace of mind.

Evans Halshaw - aren’t they part of the Stratstone/Pendragon group?
Wonder why it’s not in their Jag network?
