Hello all, I'm new here and picked up my lovely 2022 F Type coupe in Bluefire this weekend just gone and had the pleasure of driving it down from the dealer up north to my home in central London. Absolutely delighted with it and hoping to enjoy what's left of the summer weather with it driving around as much as I can.
On a more sombre note, given what car theft is sadly like now in London and around the country more generally I'm looking for some advice on how to keep my car as safe as possible (under no illusions that if they want the car they'll get it but putting in place as many deterrents as I think reasonable). I've invested in a steering wheel lock and some faraday pouches/box.
On the faraday pouches/boxes are these strictly necessary as my car is keyless start but not keyless entry. Have read on other car forums (can't find anything F Type-specific on this) that if the car is not keyless entry but is keyless start then faraday pouches aren't necessary as the key only emits a signal when you press a button rather than constantly emitting a signal (the case for keyless entry) - wondering if any other owners know if this is the case for the non-keyless entry F type? Would also appreciate any other tips that fellow owners use to keep their pride and joys secure.
Glad to be here and join the F Type family!
Faraday pouches/general security?

Faraday pouches are not expensive so cheap security measure if needed, no biggie if not, I have additional security added and received “free” faraday pouches

Since you don't have keyless entry, like myself, then the faraday pouches are not really necessary, but I keep mine in a faraday box anyway.
In terms of security, the only things you can do beyond the wheel lock are:
a) Try to stop somebody driving off with it. To that end, something like the Ghost immobiliser system offers an excellent solution. Unless you enter a coded sequence of car button presses, or have a linked phone, the car won't even start. There are a number of members on here that have had the system fitted.
and
b) If somebody trailers it, a tracker will help you recover it. It will also alert you the moment it is moved or started without a linked device (though I'm not sure how the Jaguar OEM tracker works in this regard)
Just bear in mind that if somebody is seriously determined to take your car then they will, by whatever means possible. You can be damn sure that if somebody breaks into my house, in an effort to take my car, then I won't be putting up any resistance whatsoever.

Fit a Ghost 2 and the car will go nowhere without being lifted onto a trailer. £500 roughly to install and can be transferred to a new car when you sell. If you use the app then you won’t even need to use a code as the phone will sort that for you.
Faraday pouches are pointless if you have proximity/comfort access turned off given there is no signal to boost to imitate the key being near the car. If it makes you feel better keep the keys in one as they are cheap as chips.
Trackers are OK, but an Apple AirTag will at least do the job for a few £s until it’s found by thieves.
As Cluck says if they really want your car they will have it.. following you home, breaking in, etc.

I've had this conversation with a few traffic cops I work with.
Their take on it is that digital relay thefts do happen but are relatively rare compared to "2-in-1s" (when thieves break into your house to steal you car keys, which is far more common).
So while most people overlook home security or think of car security separately, they're two of the same thing.
If Billy Scumbag did manage to break in, an Autowatch Ghost will make the car impossible to drive away even with the keys. They also protect you against jump in & drive away thefts when you're out and about, at petrol stations for example.
That said, for a few quid I wouldn't be without Faraday pouches for any car with remote start, even if it just buys you peace of mind.

Congrats and welcome to the club! That is one cracking looking car! I didn't know it was possible to get an F-Type without keyless entry but that's surely just a good thing in London.
